Sjögren's Syndrome Specialist

Sjögren's Syndrome

Sjögren’s is more than dry eyes and dry mouth.
It’s a systemic autoimmune condition that deserves a thorough evaluation – and the time it takes to understand how it’s actually showing up for you.

Understanding the Condition

What Sjögren's Is

Sjögren’s is an autoimmune condition where the immune system targets the body’s moisture-producing glands. The most familiar symptoms are dry eyes and dry mouth, but Sjögren’s is a whole-body condition, not just a dryness one.

It can also affect joints, nerves, lungs, kidneys, and energy – which is why a careful, full-body evaluation matters. Two patients with Sjögren’s can have very different versions of the same condition.

How It May Feel

Common Symptoms
& Patient Experience

Patients with Sjögren's often describe:

Persistent dry eyes - gritty, burning, or feeling like something is in them

Dry mouth, difficulty swallowing dry foods, or frequent dental issues

Joint pain and stiffness

Profound fatigue that affects daily function

Low-grade fevers or a general sense of being unwell

Tingling, numbness, or other nerve-related symptoms

Why It Can Be Complex

Variability, Overlap
& Diagnostic Nuance

Sjögren's is a quietly variable condition. Some patients have classic dryness; others have prominent fatigue, joint pain, or neurologic symptoms with relatively mild dryness. Antibody testing helps but doesn't tell the full story - a careful clinical picture is what brings it together.

Our Approach

Thoughtful, Not Rushed

Complex autoimmune disease deserves time, attention, and persistence. Here’s how that shows up in practice.

Careful Listening

Sjögren's is often experienced before it's measured. Hearing the full pattern of dryness, fatigue, and other symptoms is where evaluation begins.

Thorough Evaluation

A focused exam paired with antibody testing, additional labs, and - when appropriate - coordination with eye and dental colleagues.

Looking Beyond Dryness

We assess for joint, nerve, lung, and kidney involvement, because Sjögren's quietly reaches further than people often realize.

Staying With the Problem

Symptoms can shift over time. Care continues to be refined as the picture evolves and as new symptoms emerge.
